Respect?

Our friends at YouthNet have started a campaign called Respect?

The Respect? campaign, which is supported by online charity YouthNet and the British Youth Council, is asking 1,000 young people to pledge to take action into their own hands and take ownership of the media.

The online pledge reads, "I pledge to make my voice heard and help young people’s views to get noticed. When I have an opinion on a news story, I will voice it in the media by commenting online, writing to editors of papers or magazines, or calling in to TV or radio programmes. It’s our news too."

This sounds like a great chance to make your opinions heard!

Click here to get tips and advice on how to make a splash in the media.

You can help support the campaign by telling your friends to visit www.pledgebank.com/respectspeakup and sign up.

Snow

[Snow]

If you opened your curtains this week, you probably saw a large quantity of white stuff covering the ground.

On the bright side, it meant we could build a snowman and make snow angels. On the down side, it meant that most of the transport network in London ground to a halt. The knock-on effect of this was that we were unable to open the helpline on Monday.

If you tried to speak, email or webchat with us on Monday and were unable to, we're incredibly sorry. We have been open as usual since Tuesday, so we hope that anyone who needed our help has since been in touch. If you haven't, and something is bothering you, please get in touch with us.

Smile!

Our 17-year-old volunteer / blogger extraordinaire Kanza has written another blog post.

This one is about the importance of smiling and trying to start the new year as positively as possible.
